Moto E : First impressions review

When Motorola launched the Moto G few months back it become quite popular among the people and it stocks were sold out in minutes. It was the first phone for its entry back in India and also the first one made by Google and Motorola. Soon, it became the most popular phone in its category.

Now, with the launch of Moto E, Motorola is again looking for such sort of popularity but this time it want to stand-up in cheap phones category. It has launched the Moto E for just Rs.6,999 in India and $130 without contract in the USA.

Here is the hands-on review which I have made using data collected from different websites

1. Display

    Moto E sports a 4.3-inch display with 960x540p resolution, giving pixel density of 256ppi. The colours    are bright and saturated and it was hard to find individual pixels. Viewing angles are decent but not  something Motorola can boast of; yet the overall display quality is good at such a price.

The quality of touch is a major concern for buyers looking for budget Android phones. But, the touch quality of Moto E to be at par with the best in the business; it responded to even the slightest touch instantly.

Moto E offers one of the best displays in the sub-Rs 10,000 range yet. Also, the phone has Gorilla glass 3 corning so one need not worry about scratches on the display.

 For, such a price the display is brilliant and Motorola seems to have worked hard on it.

2. Processor

  Motorola has coupled the phone with a Snapdragon 200 Dual-core processor coupled with 1 GB of    RAM. So, I would not expect it to play heavy games such as Asphalt 8, NOVA 3, etc. But, given the RAM  and processor it would be able to handle games like temple run, subway surfer and couple of apps like  facebook, twitter, gmail very well.

 Also, the multitasking of the phone is good and there are no lags in its UI. It would serve to those who spend less time on heavy games and are ok with puzzle games or use phone for apps like facebook.

3. Design

  Motorola has carried the design of Moto G with the new Moto E. It has the same curved edges and  sloping back as its sibling, but is bit wider and heavier. The smartphone is well-designed and quite easy to  grip in the hand.

 You get front speakers that are located above and below the display, while the requisite sensors are located  above it. The camera is on the back, while both Power and Volume buttons are on the right side.

            

                      The back cover is swappable, but you cannot remove the battery. Though Moto E comes in white and black colours only, Motorola offers back covers and grip shells in as many as nine colours to give                                               users a bit of customization option.

4. Software

   Moto E comes with default version of Android 4.4 (KitKat) without any customization. There are few    pre-loaded apps, such as Alert and Assist. Except from these apps there is no bloatware at all and which  results in smooth Android experience. There is no heavy skin bogging down the speed at which apps are  launched and even the most basic functions are performed.

I have to say that  Compared to previous versions of  Windows like Windows 7 and XP, the new Windows 8  is certainly speedy. You might felt that fast booting in Windows 8 in the fresh installation. After you have installed many Windows 8 Apps and desktop softwares, the Windows 8 will boot time will be increased due to the many start up apps.

HOW TO MAKE or SPEED UP WINDOWS 8 PC MORE FASTER?

Remove/Disable Unnecessary services

Step 1 : Press Win + R to open the RUN Window. Now just type msconfig in the Run Window and Press enter.

Step 2: Now System Configuration Window will open.In that Window move to the Services tab. There tick the checkbox of the the Hide all Microsoft services. Now the Window will show you the 3rd party software services such as from Adobe update , Google update, Mozilla maintenance service. Now uncheck the services from that list, you don’t need anymore.

Manage Your Startup Programs

Step 1:  Windows startup Manage utility is now moved from Msconfig Windows to Task Manager. Now Open the RUN Window and type taskmgr  and press enter to open the Task manager or right click in the windows taskbar and click Task manager.

Step 2. In Task Manager click the More Details arrow to get the start up and more tabs. Now Move to Start up Tab. There you can see many startup apps you have installed like utorrent, Adobe updater utility,skype. Just click the app and disable that you don’t need to open that when Windows startup.

Disable Animations and Increase Performance

Windows 8 will animate when you Minimize,Maximize the window and closing the programs. These animations might reduce your system performance significantly. You can disable this animation to get more performance increase from Windows 8.

Step 1:  Now Open the RUN Command Window and type SystemPropertiesAdvanced  and then press enter. It will open the System properties With Advanced Tab. There click the Setting button in the Performance section.

Step 2. Now you will get Performance Options Window. There just untick the checkboxes like I demonstrated in screenshot.

Stop Windows Indexing

Windows index service automatically monitor all your files and indexes all your files for easy searching. This background service significantly increase the load on your CPU and it might reduce your system performance.

You can stop this service to get significant speed improvement in Windows 8 PC. Please Note that it will disable search index of your Computer. So that when you search files in your computer, search process will be slowed down.

Step 1: Open RUN Command Window and type services.msc, and press Enter. Then locate the Windows Search service in the list, right-click it and select Properties.

What to expect at WWDC 2014(Apple developers conference)

June is considered to be the biggest month as far as mobile industry is concerned. Apple and Google have their developer's conference and many new surprises comes our way and they also launch their new Operating systems at the conference.

This year too both companies have their conferences with Apple having their's on June 2 and Google I/O in the last week of June.

Read on to find out what we will see or expected to find at Apple's WWDC conference.

1.OS X 10.10

OS X 10.10 will be announced at the event and will come with comprehensive end-to-end redesigning just like the iOS 7 released by Apple last year. The OS X team is getting iOS UI resources which indicate the company’s intention to create a convergence of the two OS, in terms of UI elements such as icons and radio buttons.

Further Apple will retain features specific to OS X like Finder, multitasking, and Mission Control. The identity of both, iOS and OS X, will be retained, but they will still be more in line than ever befroe. The company aims to release OS X 10.10 by fall and is looking at hardware updates for the new version.

2.ios 8

As far as iOS 8 is concerned, Apple seems to be working on various projects for it. These projects include developing the Healthcare app, TextEdit and Preview apps, and more. But these proposed apps might not be implemented immediately. There are also rumors that iOS 8 might come without a notification center, and with tweaked Messages and Game Center apps.

Recently alleged images of iOS 8 running on iPhone 5S surfaced online by a website, but the site stated that,

“Apple has begun work on iOS 8.1, and that some of the notable features in the works for the first release of iOS 8 could potentially shift back to iOS 8.1."
